The Luz y Vida school acceleration and academic leveling classrooms were created in the early 1990s, specifically for street children. Today, Luz y Vida continues its mission through the Continuous Education program. In this program, students who attend formal elementary and middle schools in the community receive academic support, tutoring, mentorship, and spiritual discipleship from the Shaping Lives staff. Shaping Lives covers their enrollment fees and monthly tuition through sponsorships and donations. Many of the students who have attended Luz y Vida have graduated from high school, becoming the very first in their families to do so; for others, they have been the first to complete elementary school.
